The Dignity at Home Fall Prevention program is an evidence-based program centered on helping seniors avoid falls and remain safely in their homes. The program focuses on education, community outreach, and injury prevention equipment and services. The program also partners with other community agencies to conduct in home environmental assessments, as well as fall risk assessments.
Maintaining a safe home and healthy living environment can sometimes be difficult for older adults. Our Minor Home Repair Program is available to assist homeowners 60 years of age and older with repairs or modifications to improve the accessibility, safety, and livability of their homes.
Available services include, but are not limited to:
- Grab bar installation
- Step and hand rail repair
- Barrier free door handle installation
- Minor electrical or plumbing repairs
This service is available at no cost. Voluntary contributions are accepted. However, no eligible individual will be denied services because of an inability to contribute.
Prospective clients shall be eligible based solely on the eligibility criteria as determined through the screening and assessment process and program requirements. Priority is given to those who are frail, elderly, isolated, and with greatest economic and social need.
As an advocate for older adults, the Area 12 Agency on Aging strives to ensure opportunities for independence and the highest possible quality of life are available to all Area 12 residents age 60+. The effectiveness of the Agency lies in the knowledge, advice and enthusiastic support provided by the older adult community.
